We're looking for a passionate Demi Chef to join our talented culinary team. While previous vegetarian or vegan experience isn't essential, a curiosity for modern Asian cuisine, a willingness to learn, and pride in producing exceptional food are. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in one of Auckland's most celebrated kitchens, working alongside talented chefs who are committed to creativity, collaboration, and culinary excellence. Based at Sudima Auckland City, this role is permanent full-time with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week. The pay rate is $28.50 per hour. Responsibilities | Ngā Haepapa Prepare, cook, and present high quality dishes in line with East standards, ensuring consistency, quality, and guest satisfaction. Assist the Chef de Partie with the day-to-day running of the kitchen, supporting service, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to a positive team environment. Follow all food safety, HACCP, health and safety, and sanitation standards while maintaining a clean, organised, and safe kitchen including washing dishes, kitchen utensils, equipment, and keeping work areas clean throughout service. Monitor food quality, ensure correct storage and stock rotation, assist with inventory, and help reduce food waste while supporting food cost targets. Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front of house teams to ensure efficient service, high quality food, and an exceptional guest experience. Requirements About You | Ko Koe Tēnei NZQF Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2). OR At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the qualification. Previous experience in a commercial kitchen as a Commis Chef or Demi Chef. A passion for fresh, quality food and continuous improvement. Strong organisational skills with the ability to perform under pressure. Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP practices. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays. A positive attitude and willingness to support others.
