Description
We are looking for a Component and Compliance Engineer to join our Supply Chain / Procurement team in Brazil. In this role, you will support the selection, evaluation, lifecycle management, and compliance management of electronic components used in our embedded products. You will work closely with Engineering, Product Management, Procurement, suppliers, and Legal / Compliance stakeholders to ensure that component choices are well documented, commercially viable, technically suitable, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
This position plays an important role in reducing supply risk, improving data quality, maintaining visibility on lifecycle and roadmap developments, and ensuring that component-level compliance topics are proactively managed. It is a strong fit for someone with an engineering background, good knowledge of electronic components, and early professional experience in component engineering, electronics, compliance, or a related supply chain environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
Component evaluation and selection support: Drive and coordinate the component evaluation process for new products, redesigns, and maintenance changes together with Engineering, Product Management, and Procurement. Ensure that availability, quality, cost, supply chain risk, sustainability considerations, procurement strategy, and compliance criteria are considered and documented.
Documented decision support: Create clear, transparent, and well-structured comparison material and evaluation data to support sound component decisions by stakeholders.
Lifecycle and obsolescence management: Monitor the lifecycle status of key components, identify obsolescence risks early, and proactively define mitigation options. Communicate potential impacts in time and align next steps with Product Management, Engineering, and Procurement.
PCN / PDN management: Manage component change notifications and discontinuation notices received from suppliers, EMS partners, or shared mailboxes. Ensure impact visibility, structured follow-up, and proper internal coordination.
Component-level compliance management: Maintain and assess compliance data for electronic components, including topics such as REACH, RoHS , Prop65, Conflict Minerals, and emerging PFAS -related requirements. Support internal stakeholders with reliable component compliance information and documentation.
Supplier collaboration: Build and maintain productive relationships with key component manufacturers, distributors, and service providers. Collect and keep current relevant supplier documentation such as datasheets, roadmaps, budgetary pricing, declarations, test reports, and reliability information.
BOM and portfolio optimization: Create component-level improvement proposals for existing products with the goal of improving availability, reducing cost and inventory exposure, increasing resilience, and supporting quality and standardization objectives while respecting product requirements.
Component data ownership: Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date information in the component database and related systems. Contribute to a transparent and systematic structure for component master data, second-source information, lifecycle data, and compliance information.
Systems and process improvement: Help optimize component management processes and support ownership or further development of the component management system and its integrations with other tools.
