About Varnish Software Varnish Software is a Scandinavian-based tech company developing caching technology for some of the world's biggest players in the content delivery market. Our technology helps businesses worldwide improve website performance, deliver video streams, and scale their infrastructure. About the role 💼 We are looking for a self-driven Cloud Platform Engineer to help build, automate, and work on the tooling and infrastructure that creates our cloud images and containers, as well as the Kubernetes platform they run on. This is a hands-on engineering role. You'll have the freedom and trust to solve problems independently, improve the platform through automation, and contribute to the way we build and operate our infrastructure. From Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines to Kubernetes operations and cloud security, you'll own improvements from idea through implementation. What you will work on 🎯 Building and maintaining cloud images and container pipelines across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure. Automating infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, Packer, and Infrastructure as Code practices. Operating and improving our Kubernetes platform, including deployments, scaling, configuration, and troubleshooting. Building CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, scanning, signing, and publishing images and containers. Improving software supply chain security through SBOM generation, vulnerability scanning, artifact signing, and build provenance. Monitoring platform health, improving observability, and contributing to actionable alerting and runbooks. Participating in a shared on-call rotation and helping investigate, resolve, and learn from production incidents. Working closely with other engineering teams to improve developer experience, platform reliability, and automation. What we expect 🧑💻 A few years' experience working as a Cloud Engineer, Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or in a similar infrastructure-focused role. Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills. Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments. Experience building and maintaining Docker/OCI container images. Strong knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure). Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible or similar tools. Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. Comfortable writing automation using Python, Go, Shell, or similar languages. A solid understanding of infrastructure security, including IAM, secrets management, and least privilege. The ability to take a well-defined problem, learn from existing patterns, and deliver a high-quality solution independently. Good written and verbal communication skills in English. We also care about curiosity, a collaborative mindset, and people who enjoy learning. We value engineers who write maintainable automation, share knowledge with their teammates, and continuously look for ways to improve the platform. Nice-To-Have ⭐️ Experience working across multiple cloud providers. Experience with Packer. Experience implementing modern software supply chain security practices using tools such as Syft, Trivy, Grype, Cosign, Sigstore, or similar. Experience with GitOps workflows. Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or other observability tooling. Experience operating SaaS platforms in production. How we work 💙 A small, experienced engineering team in Karlstad where your work has a visible impact on the platform used by our products and customers. Part of a global engineering organisation where you'll collaborate with developers across multiple teams and locations. Flexible working hours and the ability to work from home. We trust you to manage your own time. Modern infrastructure tooling and
