About the Positions   We’re seeking  CEI Inspector II  professionals who will  provide Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) services for transportation projects located in the state of Georgia.  This is intermediate level technical work supporting higher level inspectors and engineers in functional areas such as construction inspection and surveying; scheduling and status; roadway design; traffic signal equipment; traffic signalization and geometrics; materials sampling; inspection and testing. Work usually involves a significant amount of decision making and use of judgment and may include providing work directions to others.   This post is for future roles and not for a specific opportunity that is available right now. We accept applications and conduct interviews in advance of upcoming hiring needs. When a candidate is selected, their profile is activated in our talent pool for this specialty area.  We notify our talent pool candidates first whenever we have a project need . This post targets various counties in the state of Georgia. Training materials will be provided to obtain the required certifications.   Responsibilities   May perform project engineering duties in lieu of the Project Engineer on smaller construction projects.    Will perform independent complex inspections of roadways and structure construction processes and materials to ensure compliance with the construction contract.    Will perform moderately complex inspections or supervise other inspectors conducting routine and standardized inspections.    Work includes inspecting asphalt and concrete for acceptable materials and mix; pavement for proper spreading, rolling, depth, alignment and compaction; roadways and structures for conformance to plans and specifications; structural materials and members; placement of culverts; structural operations such as foundation excavation; placement of piling, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete and backfill; and traffic control and erosion control devices.    May also perform a more complex variety of calculations and computations.    Will perform contract documentation duties, which include field measurements of pay items as well as other Department required documentation.    Work may include participating in Concept Meetings, Field Plan Reviews (Preliminary and/or Final), CPM schedule reviews, project close-out, and other duties and responsibilities as assigned.   Attributes   Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.   Possess excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills.   Possess excellent collaboration skills.   Minimum Requirements   High School Diploma or GED.   3+ years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency, or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.   Considerable knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.   Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions, including geometry and trigonometry.   Drafting skill and skill in the use of office equipment such as calculators and computers.   Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.   Ability to take notes and prepare or review reports.   Ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods.   Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Georgia Law. &nbs
