As a Software Engineer in our Life Sciences Tech Hub, you will design and build systems that enable secure, privacy-preserving access to high-quality healthcare data used by pharmaceutical companies, biotech innovators, and research organizations worldwide. Your work will directly support the development of new therapies, accelerate clinical trials, and improve patient outcomes by ensuring that critical data is interoperable, scalable, and trustworthy. Backend Engineer (Python, Kubernetes, AWS) The Role As a Backend Engineer, you will design and build scalable services that power mission-critical applications in a cloud native environment. You will develop Python based systems deployed on Kubernetes and AWS, with a focus on reliability, performance, and security. This role offers strong ownership of backend architecture and the opportunity to shape platform standards and best practices. What You’ll Do Design and implement backend services and APIs using Python frameworks Build and deploy containerized applications on Kubernetes in AWS Leverage specific AWS services to power those applications (e.g. Clean Rooms, EventBridge, etc.) Extend infrastructure as code and improve CI/CD pipelines Optimize system performance, scalability, and fault tolerance Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define service contracts and architecture Monitor production systems and resolve reliability and performance issues What You’ll Bring Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience 2+ years of backend software development experience for junior candidates; 6+ years for senior candidates Professional experience developing production backend services and APIs in Python Practical experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads Experience deploy
