What You Would Get To Do
In this role, the AV Systems Engineer will maintain the Audio, Video, Lighting, and Control systems that drive the facility, as well as networks, media ingest systems, and post-production systems.
The role requires the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people across the AV and Events space. We’re looking for an AV engineer with hands-on production experience who can provide technical support and guidance to events and conferences at all business levels.
The role also requires flexibility to occasionally work outside of traditional office hours, depending on demand and production requirements.
Your Contributions
Provide back-end support to the Event Technicians on productions on-site and remotely
Set up and monitor facility routing between event spaces and the main Control Rooms
Perform on-site and remote maintenance on specialist equipment for event production and broadcast
Design, test, evaluate and install new circuitry/equipment for use in the facility
Analyse and repair technical faults on equipment beyond the first line of troubleshooting
Manage client expectations on tech-related issues
Ensure that production equipment is running the latest versions of software/firmware to enable new features
Identify a suitable workaround when equipment has failed to ensure continuity of the service
Interpret and implement instructions and requests from event production meetings in order to deliver the maximum capability the facility can offer
Help enhance the user experience by utilising available engineering resources
Produce and update technical documentation
Keep up-to-date with the industry and changes in technology by building and maintaining a network of contacts and investigating new systems and techniques
Be able to travel between sites or assist remotely in order to perform break/fix and maintenance duties
Train operational staff on existing or new equipment
Own maintenance and engineering initiatives, including project management and 3rd party vendor liaison
Provide custom workflow and routing configuration for productions, facilitate ground-up production setups in soundstages, and monitor productions and livestreams for optimal system performance
Regularly flex into production operator roles when staffing emergencies arise, when periods or relief need to be provided to operators during extended production calls, or when leave coverage is required
What We Are Looking For
5-7 years of experience in a similar role
Experience with Q-Sys and Dante
Experience working with some or all of the following products: Yamaha, Dante, Evertz, Ross Carbonite and Ultrix, Barco E2/S3 or Analogue Way Aquilon, Panasonic PTZ cameras and controllers, Unilumin LED walls and Novastar or Megapixel processors, ETC ION theatrical lighting controllers.
Ability to apply digital and analogue theory and work from diagrammatic information
Ability to work across all event production and broadcast studio operations
Deep understanding of front-line maintenance and diagnostics
