Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, mission-aligned Assistant Director to join Community Pride.  The Assistant Director will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.  Community Pride is a resident-driven, neighborhood revitalization program that has led to the creation of community coalitions and the transfer of city-owned buildings to resident management and ownership. We work with community residents to develop their leadership skills, advocate for services, enhance the physical environment of their neighborhood, and improve overall economic stability.  We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director who can efficiently drive daily operations in a fast-paced environment, meet short-term goals, and increase the productivity of Community Pride in Harlem. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for the mission of HCZ, an understanding of Harlem culture, strong project management skills, and proven community organizing expertise. The Assistant Director will report directly to the Program Director.  For more information, check out  Want to Work at Harlem Children's Zone? Here's 7 Things You Need to Know .  Requirements Bachelor’s degree required  3+ years (5+ years preferred) of direct supervisory and program management experience in community building/engagement/organizing/ advocacy or related fields is required.     Who you are  Excellent communication, detail-oriented,  Strategic planning, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and leadership skills. Advanced interpersonal and public speaking skills.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom, and Outlook)  Prior experience with budget management (I.e., balancing budgets, spending proposals, cost analysis, etc.)  Experience with Salesforce/data management systems is strongly preferred  Demonstrated ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks independently  Experience working with community groups and community-based organizations  Networking experience, community building, and  Familiar with the Harlem Community, related service providers, and challenges prevalent in underserved communities of color  Demonstrate the ability to communicate with sensitivity, tact, and professionalism  Open to working with a diverse population of families, parents/caregivers, and children within the community  Highly collaborative, customer service–focused, and dedicated to fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for all.  Bilingual Spanish/English/French is a plus    What you’ll do  Provide direct supervision of a team, including managers and community organizers, to ensure efficient delivery of community and program services   Responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of community-driven initiatives, workshops, events, and activities   Develop and implement programs that support efforts for meeting programmatic goals within the following areas:  Community Organizing, Leadership Development, Community Outreach, and Neighborhood Revitalization  Schedule and manage local community outreach, including door-knocking, telephone campaigns, etc.    Work with the program director to create, plan, and execute the department's mission and vision  Work with the program director to support the management of organization-wide events and activities.   Work with
