Architect BB&E is a full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both federal and private sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering, and Program/Project Management Services to our clients. Position Summary BB&E is currently looking for an experienced, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Architect to support our A&AS contract assisting NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic (MIDLANT) in Norfolk, VA. This individual will work directly with existing staff and Navy client teams to ensure high-quality planning, execution, and delivery across a range of facilities design and construction projects. The professional services provided will support a wide range of Navy facility types including housing, community support facilities (dining halls, clubs, fitness centers, child development centers), medical facilities, education/training facilities, maintenance shops, industrial facilities, hangars, administration buildings, and operations/command and control facilities. This position is based in Norfolk, VA. Job Responsibilities: Provide timely, professional architectural support, services, and consultation for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Supported Commands, including specific projects, special projects, military construction (MILCON), demolition, maintenance, space utilization, and facilities development. Participate in conferences with project stakeholders and collaborate with other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure system coordination and integration with specific project requirements. Provide QA/QC review, input, and feedback on third-party designs and recommendations with respect to programming, space planning, concept design, sustainable practices, and code compliance; analyze furnished drawings and specifications, review cost estimates, and provide other required services. Develop architectural designs covering programming, space planning, concept design development, sustainable design, design analyses, compliance with codes and standards, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. Conduct site visits to evaluate existing conditions, verify scoping requirements, and monitor construction progress. Inspect existing facilities to identify architectural deficiencies and recommend corrective or rehabilitation measures. Work with technical, Proposal Management, and Business Development staff to support proposal development. Work with the Leadership Team, Senior Management Team, and staff to ensure BB&E Core Values are being followed. Travel approximately 10% of the time. Requirements Key Qualifications Registration as a Licensed Architect (RA) is preferred but not required. Broad professional knowledge and skill in architectural concepts, theories, principles, practices, and techniques necessary to plan, design, manage, construct, preserve, restore, rehabilitate, oversee, and maintain a wide range of shore installation facilities projects. Knowledge of DoD and Navy guide specifications, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and policies; the International Building Code; the Life Safety Code; applicable industry codes and standards; and standard architectural design practices. Knowledge of local, state, federal, and foreign country laws, codes, and other statutory requirements affecting architectural design throughout the NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic AOR. Knowledge of related architectural and engineering disciplines and their associated impacts on architectural design. Knowledge of and experience with Autodesk software, including AutoCAD and Revit; Microsoft Office; architectural design and analysis software; and other applicable DoD computer systems and software used by the Command.
