Description
We're building a dedicated accessibility engineering team to work on a native Android application at scale. This is a remote, freelance/contractor position for a 6-month engagement, working in English with a European team. Responsibilities Lead the development of accessibility (A11y) fixes for the Android application, focusing on stability, performance, and alignment with product and business goals Set and promote high standards for code quality, applying modern best practices and ensuring the extensibility and maintainability of the codebase Collaborate on end-to-end accessibility fix implementation, from draft to deployment, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with stakeholders Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, iOS and backend development, and QA Requirements Experience implementing accessibility (A11y) features in mobile apps A track record of contributing to applications with a large user base An understanding of the importance of writing fast, comprehensive tests, and experience doing so Production experience with Coroutines & Flows Understanding of reactive streams Experience working in a multi-module project A commitment to maintaining high code quality, with a strong sense of responsibility for the product's success A team-oriented approach Strong written and verbal communication in English Nice to have: Production experience with Jetpack Compose Basic understanding of security Understanding of Gradle scripting Experience with Agile development methodologies Experience in the payments or FinTech industry
