Description
About SafeLease At SafeLease, we're rethinking how P&C insurance is sold in an age of technological change. We believe the industry's biggest inefficiencies aren't technical problems — they're structural ones. And we're building the team to tackle them. SafeLease is a profitable insurance business that designs, underwrites, and distributes specialty coverage for commercial property owners and their tenants. Most insurance companies either distribute products or bear the risk — we do both. We back our policies with our own capital, which means we control the full stack: product design, tech, and the speed at which we move. That end-to-end ownership lets us offer customers real flexibility, saving time and money for more than 4,000 properties insured for billions in value nationwide. We're a team of 70, growing over 100% annually, and we've done it without sacrificing profitability or culture. Here, you'll get high discretion and a wide aperture of problems to solve. We embrace the newest technologies, move fast together, and operate with the intensity of a small company where every person's work is visible. If you're looking for a place to sharpen your craft alongside people who take their work seriously, you'll fit right in. THE ROLE As our Agency Development Manager, you will be the face of SafeLease to the brokerage community. You will be responsible for identifying, appointing, and managing relationships with independent agents as well as regional and national brokerages. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Build the Network: Identify and recruit high-performing commercial lines agencies and brokers who specialize in our core and adjacent verticals (self-storage, light industrial, marinas, hangars, etc). - Onboard & Activate: Lead the appointment process. After signing producer agreements; you’ll train producers on how to use the SafeLease portal to quote and bind business in minutes and ensure they are successfully utilizing our platform and understand our appetite. - Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact for our producer partners. Conduct regular account reviews, provide appetite updates, and gather feedback to improve our product. Be hyper responsive to their needs and obsessed with making them successful working with SafeLease. - Product Advocacy: Educate producers on our insurance products and technology advantage — showing them how our data-driven underwriting and faster turnaround times leads to better pricing and faster commissions for them. - Drive Premium Growth: Own the entire pipeline from initial submission through to bind. You will partner closely with our underwriters to ensure high-quality risks are being prioritized. - Own Program Business: Build distribution/referral relationships with our existing property management customers and other relevant industry parties. WHO YOU ARE - The Connector: You have strong commercial property insurance contacts and know how to navigate the hierarchy of a large brokerage. - The Industry Guru: You understand commercial P&C fundamentals but are bored by legacy systems. You’re excited to show brokers a better way to work. - The Strategist: You proactively identify the best opportunities & build a plan to capture them. - Experience: 5+ years in insurance distribution, agency management, or wholesale brokerage. Active surplus lines producer license is highly preferred (or relevant surplus lines experience.) HOW WILL SUCCESS BE MEASURED? To ensure this person is successful, you should measure them on: 1. New Appointments: Number of high-quality agencies signed per month. 2. Submission Flow: Volume of "Qualified Submissions" coming through the broker channel. 3. Activation Rate: The percentage of appointed agencies that bind at least one policy within their first 60 days. 4. Retention: Year-over-year renewal rate of the broker-produced book of business.
