Williams Parker , the region's largest and oldest law firm founded in 1925, is seeking a detail-oriented and service-focused Accounting Assistant to join our Accounting Department in downtown Sarasota. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys a blend of accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing support, matter conflict checks, and administrative accounting functions within a collaborative professional services environment. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the Firm's financial operations while maintaining the accuracy, responsiveness, confidentiality, and client service standards that have contributed to Williams Parker's success for more than a century. What You Will Do As a member of the Accounting Department, you will: Support the accounting department by processing inbound accounting requests. Perform and manage client and matter conflict checks, including conducting database searches, maintaining contact records, verifying information, and ensuring compliance with firm policies before matters are opened. Manage accounts receivable processes, including cash receipt reconciliation, remote check deposits, wire verification, and invoice follow-up activities. Assist in handling accounts payable functions, including coding and processing vendor invoices, managing reimbursements, onboarding new vendors, and ensuring timely and accurate payments.   Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with firm procedures and accounting standards.   Collaborate with attorneys, staff, clients, vendors, and third-party service providers to support the Firm's financial and operational needs.   Adapt to changing priorities and business demands while proactively identifying needs and assisting with departmental initiatives. Requirements Education & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; emphasis in accounting, business administration, or a related field is preferred. Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, professionalism, confidentiality, and exceptional client service. Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment. Experience One to two years of accounts payable and/or accounts receivable experience strongly preferred. Three to five years of experience in a professional services, legal, accounting, or business environment is preferred. Experience working with accounting, billing, or time-and-billing software platforms is preferred. Experience maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and supporting accounting operations in a high-volume environment. Skills and Attributes Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business technology platforms; experience with systems such as SurePoint, iManage, and Adobe Acrobat is beneficial. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining close attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments and communicate with diverse audiences. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and respond effectively to time-sensitive requests and deadlines. Strong documentation, reporting, and record-management skills. Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and sound judgment. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and contribute positively to a collaborative, service-driven culture.
